🔎
context

The National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF)’s mission is to honor past inventors and transmit their mentality into the next generation. For 7 years I worked in their in-house design team, designing, marketing, leading, traveling, managing, voice acting, mentoring, and doing whatever was needed.

approach

I did a lot ofeverything at NIHF. We functioned like a scrappy startup. I was hired as a junior designer and was running the design department when I left.

These are a few pieces I am extra proud of, and they all require too much context for a single page on a website. To summarize, the goals were always: be inspiring, be educational, and be fast!

Above: I disassembled, photographed, and reassembled a toy microphone to make this poster for one of the educational programs.

Below: I got to stretch my motion graphics skills, which turned into writing scripts, voice acting, occasionally acting on camera, beatboxing, and the whitest rapping you have ever heard.
We needed a kid-friendly display typeface, so in the interests of creativity and intellectual property I made one. Sketch → Vector → Fontforge → all kid-facing materials.
📈
outcome

NIHF doubled in size and revenue while I worked there, but what I am most proud of is getting to lead and inspire people. I love managing, admin work and all. Making a useful and profitable design is great, but it does not compare to setting the standard for others and helping them reach it.
